The Idea behind taking the kids away was that they were mixed race, the gov thought that as mixed race they would have a better chance at life if they were snatched and raised by whites, rather than live on a reservation with their aboriginal mothers. When the policy started there was a real shortage of domestic workers in Australia, so by snatching these kids and raising them they way they were raised they would have a ready source of cheap domestic labour.

No, I wasn't a goody two shoes with those in the truth, i don't think I ever marked anyone or refused to associate with anyone that wasn't a good associate but i was a bit arrogant when it came to dealing with worldly people. I wouldn't associate with them outside of work hours.

I saw it at the cinema a few years back (Sydney 2001?) When it first came out. I thought it was a good film for several reasons. One, it was a true story. Two, I had hoped it would give wider publicity to the whole stolen generation cause outside of Oz. Three, the three main aboriginal actresses were complete armatures, they had never acted a day in their lives when they were chosen to play those parts. Yet the scene where they were snatched was REALLY disturbing mainly due to their acting ability.
The oldest lead girl ran away from the set several times during production because she found the work so hard and by all accounts she was a right cow because she didn't really want to do acting and be away from home. She threw a major fit when she was told she'd have to have her hair cut for the part! Since doing the film shes gone on to woo people on stage in Oz and in the UK.
I'd recommend the film, if only to show you just how inhumaine we as a race can be to one another.

British Museum Exhibits -

firstly the cuneiform tablet with part of the babylonian chronicle (605-594).
before i discuss this with mum i need to know that this is accepted fact and nothing will change what it says or affect its content.

The Cuneiform tablet with part of the Babylonian Chronicle:
This can be found in Room 55, Which is on the left hand side on the first floor at the rear of the museum as you go in. All the display cases are marked with a small number etched into the glass and this item is in case no15 and is item number 24.
The lachish Letters:
These are just one room away from the above Item, in room 57 in case no10. This display board giving the chronology of that area as seen above in the original thread can also be seen in room 57

There actually is ONE thing I can thank the WTS for.............
by Frannie Banannie ini finally figured out that there is one thing i can thank them for.
you see, because they are so rigid, dogmatic and unmerciful in their teachings, doctrines and practices, when i finally realized they are wrong, it made me begin to examine the alleged holy scriptures authored by religious leaders from the past and to finally see that it's all man-made.
when i believed strongly in bible writings, my view of reality was skewed effectively as a consequence.

Thanks to the WBTS I can now find any scripture in the bible in under 2 seconds, I can to sit looking at a wall for an hour without fidgeting, I can slip a tract under the tightest door frame, I can look people in the eye and tell them their religion stinks, I can knock on doors really loud with my fingertips and I can ignore anything other people are saying
